Construction is underway on 'Camden Eco-Sprint GT,' an electric race car designed by GCSE Design & Technology students at Antrim Grammar School. Sponsored by Camden, the car is being built for participation in the prestigious 'Greenpower F24' Racing Series.
Greenpower F24 promotes STEM education by challenging young minds worldwide to design, build and race futuristic battery-powered cars.
Drawing inspiration from Camden's sustainable manufacturing, Antrim Grammar students are integrating sustainable design elements into their project.
Competing teams engage at regional and national levels across prominent UK motor circuits, with winning teams advancing to a global showdown at Silverstone, the famed venue of the F1 British Grand Prix.
Peter Campbell, Head of Design and Technology at Antrim Grammar School, commented: “In my 20-year teaching, I have not come across a project like this that stretches the most capable pupils and connects them so well with industry. The challenges they face and the innovation that occurs within the team setting have no parallels within education."
Mark McEvoy, Sales Director at Camden, commented: “We are delighted to sponsor Greenpower F24, highlighting Camden’s drive toward sustainability and our investment in promoting STEM-based subjects in school. We look forward to watching this team zoom towards victory.”
