Health, Safety & Environmental Officer

Job Overview:

The successful candidates will be required to promote all Health, Safety & Environmental functions within Camden Group.   The applicant will be responsible for the introduction, co-ordination and on-going management and control of associated strategies, policies and procedures within the company.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the development, implementation, and review of health and safety policies, procedures, and risk assessments.
  • Conduct regular site inspections and audits to ensure compliance with health and safety regulations and company policies.
  • Support the investigation of accidents, incidents, and near misses, and assist in the preparation of reports with recommendations for corrective actions.
  • Help maintain and update health and safety records, including incident logs, training records, and safety data sheets.
  • Assist in the delivery of health and safety training sessions to employees, including inductions for new staff.
  • Support the monitoring of health and safety performance, ensuring that all activities are conducted in a safe manner.
  • Assist in the identification of potential hazards and the development of strategies to mitigate risks.
  • Stay up to date with current health and safety legislation and best practices to ensure the company remains compliant.
  • Ensure that all SOPs are up to date and ready for inspection by Site Management, internal and external auditors.
  • Provide assistance to the Training Officer to ensure all training matrices are up to date.
  • Maintain and improve management systems for ISO45001, ISO14001, and EUSkills CMS accreditation
  • Build strong relationships with customers, suppliers, and internal stakeholders, and liaise with HSE NI and NIEA on REACH and Waste licensing.
  • Conduct Environmental testing i.e. air quality, LEV, storage of chemicals, noise, etc.
  • Any other duties as set out by the EHS Manager.

Schedule

  • 8 hour shift

Essential Criteria:

  • NEBOSH Certificate or Diploma
  • Membership of professional body, IOSH, IEMA, etc.
  • 2 years previous experience in a Health and Safety role
  • Experience of accident investigation and reporting
  • ISO auditing experience or qualification
  • Risk Assessment experience
  • Designing and implementing Health and Safety and Environmental policies and procedures
  • Strong communication and influencing skills
  • Proven organisational and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to interpret Health and Safety and Environmental legislation into practical working arrangements
  • Computer literate in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook
  • Assertive abilities with the ability to work on own initiative
  • Flexible and adaptable
